Inspiration:
I am a firm believer in natural motion, taking inspiration from my surroundings everyday. Even just from going to the park and seeing a leaf fall, I am inspired to film the natural falling motion of the leaf and recreate and incorporate that into into my work. One of my favourite books is The Animators Survival Kit by Richard Williams.
I always go back to this book as it gives me food for thought on how things are animated. I feel that if you truly understand traditional animation, like squash and stretch for example, this will help to develop your skills and improve your work overall. From my perspective, anyone can learn a bit of software and make something visually pleasing enough, but understanding key techniques and building your skills is vital to create beautiful, fluid motion design.
